I don't think the author has listened to what JBP is actually saying. He says the bible is like a reference book of higher truths contained in many proverbial myths and stories. And that if you understand and observe these higher truths - things will work out better for you than if you discount them or deny them. Like in Zoroastrianism - "good thoughts, good words, good deeds" - only a fool would reject this as a good way of life, a good way of being. But there are plenty of fools around so that's fine.
